Welcome to Year 5

A big welcome back to all of our Year 5 children.  We hope you all had a fabulous summer and you are looking forward to the year ahead.  There have been a few changes to our curriculum this year and I can’t wait to explore all of our new topics with you.  As well as myself, Mrs Haslam, we will also have Mrs Hughes working with us who I know you all know well as she has taught you French every week since Year 3.  We both can’t wait to get to know you all better and to start your learning journey in Year 5. 

We will begin the year focussing on the text, "There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom," by Louis Sachar in English. I Maths we will be starting with place value.  In Science, we will be focussing on forces and in History we will be focussing on the Mayans.  To find out more about our curriculum this year please see our 'Curriculum on a page' document, which will give you an overview.   Please also see our Autumn 1 newsletter for further information specifically related to this term.

Key Information

PE days for this half term will be a Tuesday and a Thursday.  Please make sure you have your indoor kit on a Tuesday and outdoor kit on a Thursday (we will be doing cross country this term so please bear in mind that kits may get muddy).
