Slinky Science

Date: 24th Mar 2025 @ 4:24pm

In Science today we have been experimenting with slinkys. We have been wrapping string around them and listening to them drop. We were shocked to hear they made a laser sound!

Next, we stretched out the slinky and then dropped it from height. We called this experiment 'defying gravity' as the bottom part of the slinky did not fall until all the slinky came together!! This blew our minds!!

Finally, we worked with a partner to hold the slinky to tap it and wiggle it around. We could see the waves of sound travel down the slinky to the other person.

We had so much fun and leant that slinkys are so much more than a toy!
