Reception are learning all about staying safe – Road Safety Lesson
Children learn best through play and hands-on activities. That’s why we use a variety of games, songs, and crafts to reinforce road safety messages. For example:
- Role-Playing: Children take part in role-playing activities where they practice crossing the road safely with their friends. They act as pedestrians, while others pretend to be cars or buses, helping them understand how to use pedestrian crossings and when to stop and look.
- Interactive Songs and Rhymes: Songs and rhymes are a great way to make road safety lessons fun and memorable. Songs like “Stop, Look, Listen, Think” or “The Green Cross Code” help children learn the steps they need to take when crossing the road.
- Drawing and Craft Activities: Next week Reception will create road safety posters, where the children will draw pictures of roads, pedestrian crossings, and safe walking paths. This will help to reinforce the concept of safe and unsafe behaviours near roads.
