Festive activities in Reception

Date: 17th Dec 2024 @ 2:17pm

The festive season has been full of joy and excitement in our Reception class! We have had a wonderful time celebrating Christmas together with a variety of activities that have engaged and delighted the children. Here is a recap of the highlights:

  1. Christmas Crafts:
    • The children enjoyed creating beautiful Christmas cards and decorations, including 3D stars and 2025 calendars. These crafts helped them develop their fine motor skills and creativity.
  2. Early Years Sing Along:
    • The children performed a heart-warming Nativity play, where they took on roles such as angels, wise men and innkeepers. It was a fantastic opportunity for them to practice teamwork and gain confidence in front of an audience.
  3. Festive Story time
    • We read a range of Christmas-themed books, including Stick Man and Dear Santa, encouraging the children’s love for reading and storytelling. The children especially enjoyed acting out scenes from their favourite stories!
  4. Christmas Songs and Music:
    • Singing Christmas carols was a highlight, with the children learning songs like “Jingle Bells” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”. It helped them improve their listening skills and memory.
  5. Christmas Party:
    • A special Christmas party was held with games, treats, and a mini disco in the hall. The children had a fantastic time participating in fun activities such as musical chairs and festive corners.
  6. Science Investigations:
    • The children have been developing their enquiry skills through science investigations. They tested out the questions ‘Can we make snow?’ and ‘Can we make the glitter move without touching it? The children recorded their predictions and results in bar charts.

We have thoroughly enjoyed celebrating this special time of year with your children. We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and look forward to more exciting adventures in the New Year!
